I started a group recently on facebook as a ‘fan’ site for my dad. Besides my being his number 1 fan, he taught for over 30 years and I am well aware that a good number of his students enjoyed him and his classes. I got my story-telling from him as well as some of my advocacy. I figured it would be interesting to see some of the anecdotes coming back.
Sure enough as the people slowly trickle in, one student recalled Mr. Wood saying that (to me) “his dad taught me to never say ‘Thank You’ when his boss handed him his paycheck. When asked why, he replied ‘because you earn your paycheck, you say thanks when someone is giving you something as a gift!'”
